Buy your power at wholesale. Own the hedge.
PowerHub members pay the half-hourly market price for electricity plus a flat two cents a kilowatt-hour. Nothing marked up, nothing hidden. Then we supply the battery and the solar that smooth the peaks.
Is PowerHub right for you? Start with your monthly power bill
Most of the answer sits in one number: what you spend on electricity in an average month at the property you want on the plan. Membership is a one-off fee, so the question is whether your usage is big enough to recover it and keep going.
Under about $350 a month
-
Not yet. At that level of use, buying at the market price is unlikely to recover a membership fee in a sensible time.
-
We will still price your bill against the actual market for free, and we will tell you plainly if the answer is no.
About $350 a month or more
-
Membership starts to pay. You buy at the half-hourly market price plus a flat two cents a kilowatt-hour, with no retail margin on top.
-
Network, metering and Electricity Authority levy charges are passed through at cost, the same as with any retailer.
About $450 a month or more
-
A battery subscription starts to pay as well. The battery charges in the cheapest half-hours and runs the property through the expensive ones, which is what turns market exposure into a position you can manage.
Three things need to be true
-
You use enough. Below about $350 a month of spend, membership does not recover its fee.
-
You can store or shift power. Taking market pricing with no battery leaves you fully exposed to price spikes, and we do not recommend that to anyone.
-
You can absorb a bill that moves. Your monthly cost varies with the market. Most months it sits well below a fixed rate; in a sustained high-price market it will be higher.
If all three are true, the next step is a free bill analysis. Send us a recent power bill and we will price that same usage against the actual half-hourly market. It takes a couple of days, it costs nothing, and there is no obligation.
